Description

Organise a workshop to introduce young people to careers in cybersecurity. Participants will learn about the different professions, the skills required and the current issues. Each session can include interactive activities such as quizzes, videos, interviews and practical exercises on online security.

Objectives

1 – Discover careers in cybersecurity: providing information on possible careers and academic paths.

2 – Raise awareness of good digital practices: raising awareness about digital hygiene, password management and data protection.

3 – Prevent online risks: educating about dangers such as online scams, cyber-bullying and deepfakes.

Course of action

  1. 1

    Identify young people's needs: gather participants expectations and questions about cybersecurity careers or risks.

  2. 2

    Prepare the teaching materials: prepare your session using the available resources.

  3. 3

    Run the workshop: start with a general introduction on cybersecurity professions. Use concrete examples and stories from professionals to illustrate the sector's perspectives.

    Organise interactive activities for participants: awareness quizzes on online scams, exercises on password management and double authentication...

  5. 5

    Evaluate the session: at the end of the workshop, have a discussion with the young people to assess their understanding of the concepts covered. Encourage participants to continue their discovery of cybersecurity careers.

    Optional: incorporate inspiring stories from professionals, mentors or former participants in these workshops to show the diversity of cybersecurity pathways.
